One thing I love about Instagram is how artistic it can be as a creative outlet.
There’s something about all those beautiful photos in grid-like squares, one after another..
Don’t some Instagram feeds seem like they should be displayed as wall art?
The answer is yes. Yes, they should! And it’s really easy to do yourself!
I was inspired by this post here but I made my own twist and I realized it would be a perfect project for the mini canvases I had picked up.
First up gather the supplies:
- scissors (these ones are nice because they are super comfortable for lefties like me)
- a foam brush
- mod podge
- Scotch removable squares for mounting
- and 3 x 3 white mini canvas found at Michael’s
Next step, make sure your cat is ready.. (Hi Cora!)
Okay.. actually the next step is to gather your photos. To get mine ready for the canvas, I copy and pasted them into Microsoft word and resized them to 3″ by 3″, then I printed it out in color on regular printer paper. You could do this at the library for free if you don’t have a color printer at home.
Once the photos are printed, I placed the image on the canvas first dry to get an idea for placement. After that, all it takes is a quick coat of modge podge on the mini canvas, take an individual picture and gently press it over the canvas being careful to make sure it lines up correctly and smooth out any air bubbles.
I bought the miniature removable adhesive squares and ended up cutting them in half for a basically perfect fit.
Isn’t that pretty? All that’s left to do is stick ’em on up! What’s nice about using these lightweight adhesive squares is they are easy to relocate and move elsewhere for decorating later on.
That’s all for today! A very easy and fun to do craft project!
It’s exciting to start putting stuff up on the walls after two months of living in our first house.
