In my last few posts, I talked about how I started blogging and how if you didn’t already know.. there’s A TON of resources out there. So many you could get lost in the resource sea..
So many formulas for success…
So much emphasis for “perfect” strategies..
What YOU are definitely doing wrong
What you need to change to be successful
I appreciate genuine advice and tips & tricks as much as the next person
*BUT* all that extra-salesy-secret-to-success-do-it-for-the-money-crap is just a bunch of useless bulltwerky (I made that word up, but it sounds stupid so it fits)
And I mean that in the most positive way possible.
Other people’s advice, strategies, and opinions will only get you so far.
Have you ever heard amazing things from others about a movie, gone to see it and it was just kinda nothing special?
Or heard bad things about a person and when you meet them, you see them in a positive light and realize they have a lot of good things to offer?
Little things like these are a good reminder to take advice with a grain of salt.
We are all unique individuals. You may love something someone else hates. Others may dislike what you love. Following all the steps someone else took for success, might not measure exactly the same for you. And you know what else, it’s all okay.
Success is a state of mind.. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success”
Going deeper than that, ask yourself what success means to you. Not them, but you.
I am in a successful state of mind because every time I write a post and work on my blog, I’m doing what I love to do. Sharing my journey of home-ownership and documenting the transformation of my house into a home. That is my personal definition of success.
So what’s my advice?
THROW AWAY THE RULE BOOK!
& DO WHAT FEELS RIGHT FOR YOU
Don’t get so caught up in the success formulas.
- Post as often or not-so-often as you like
- Do what inspires you (your real audience will always support you + if they don’t, they’re not your real audience)
- Remember what success means for you
Remember to have FUN
You should always have fun in everything you do. Life is too short to get bogged down with things that make it not fun anymore.
Be true to yourself & trust your journey
That’s all the deep talk for today, go ahead and break some rules now 😉
