Light, airy, walls full of windows, a cozy wood stove… a few features that make the sunroom my favorite room in the house. So I can’t wait to share a little preview of this beautiful space for you guys today. We haven’t done much at all to the sunroom since we moved into our new house last November.
In the winter time, this room has a totally different feel with views of the snowy backyard, not as much light coming in, but certainly an added cozy factor for our little wood stove. That thing is a lifesaver in the cold Washington months.
Come Spring, the liveliness to the room is really amplified. This room gets so much gorgeous light. It’s the perfect place for plants and there’s even a row of hooks on the ceiling for hanging plants left from the previous owners. (We just haven’t found ones quite the right size yet)
Before we had ever seen our house in person, Jason and I saw a picture of the sunroom and that was the FIRST time I truly envisioned myself living here.. the other pictures.. eh not so great. Our home hadn’t been renovated since it was built in the fifties. Hence the main purpose for my blog, huh? 😉
But this room stood out. In a huge way.
The first time Jason and I saw a picture of the sunroom, we smiled, turned to each other, and instantly exclaimed how much the cats would love it. (and they do!)
Have a peek for yourself…
An incredibly true pillow…
Furnishing the room has been a breeze so far. My aunt was lovely enough to donate this tan futon as well as the black entertainment center. The black bistro table and chairs were a great find I discovered on a local ‘shop and swap’ group on Facebook. My little flower problem solver pillow came from Target, for only five bucks!
In case you were wondering, there are two slider doors in each corner which lead out to the backyard. The sunroom over looks the whole backyard, and we have some big plans for what to do with that space out there!
Not pictured here in this sneak peek is our wood stove, which sits in the opposite corner and is next to the door leading to the garage.
Since I generally come in through the garage, this is the first room I step into. I plan on creating a little drop space, maybe a cute coat rack for an easy place to drop jackets and purses.. because I’m guilty of needing one of those 😉
That’s all for today!
You can expect to see more in my six month update I’ll be sharing soon.
Have an amazing weekend 🙂
