** dusts off mountains of cobwebs **
Today’s the day where not only is a blog post long over due, but I also feel the need to show my face again in case you forgot who exactly it is that’s blogging around here, which in all fairness is pretty appropriate since I haven’t posted since June. So for those who need a reintroduction, hey it’s me Devon!
I’ve had two pretty exciting changes since the last time I blogged and they both happened one single afternoon in August.
I’d arranged to take home a brand new puppy (my first dog ever!) who has lovingly been named Bruce.
I was at work eagerly waiting to pick him up when I got a phone call saying I’d been offered a job for the promotion I was going for.
A puppy and a promotion in the same day!
Needless to say, things have been a little crazy around here. BUT I’ve still been doing house projects, decorating, and taking pictures along the way. now I just need to get around to sharing it all!
Here’s Brucie and I hanging out by the front steps. My front porch was really easy to put together and I’ll be sharing a detailed post about it in the next few days.
For those wondering, I found Bruce for sale on a local Facebook page. He is the weirdest breed mix. He’s pit bull, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, and a quarter Pug.
Alright, anyway you came to see my fall decorations, so here we go!
I fell in love with the giving thanks sign. It was a home goods find for twenty bucks. It may even stay up all year long!
My living room has gone through lots of changes since we’ve first moved in. We white washed the fireplace, painted the mantel white, painted the wall to the left white, and removed the carpet to uncover the original hardwood floors. Future projects include spray painting the gold fireplace cover black.
My fall mantle decorations were fairly simple. The vase and chalkboard have been on the mantle since spring. I swapped out the faux flowers for some fall style flowers and leaves. The arrow pumpkin and glass bottle with the basket covering are from Hobby Lobby.
The milk bottle is from Bed Bath and Beyond and the greenery came from the Target dollar spot. They pair so well together! I wasn’t so sure about the greenery when I bought it, but it was three dollars so I picked it up anyway and I’m very glad I did! It’s so cute and simple.
The little pumpkins came in a pack from Target and are scattered around the house.
Heading into the dining room, my hutch is all decked out with Fall and Halloween decorations.
Can you believe this hutch was a thrift find?? Goodwill! I took it home and refinished it in white. The leaf garland on top was also a thrift find along with my blue and white plates.
In the kitchen, my chalkboard has been sporting a cute little pumpkin drawing I drew up about a month ago. The galvanized milk butter bread and eggs sign is from Target.
The sign itself came from an old Starbucks. My boyfriend was doing a construction job there and they were going to throw the beautiful chalkboard away. He saved it from the trash! Hallelujah!
One project I wanted to complete this summer but didn’t is painting my kitchen cabinets white. I know it will look so beautiful when it’s done but I really don’t mind having the natural wood and retro hardware another winter until the weather warms up again enough for us to dry the cabinets outside. So for now, it’s rocking the retro look.
It’s charming in it’s own little way huh? The black and white kitchen towel is from Target and the pumpkin towel is from Shopko.
The magnet leaves on the fridge are from the dollar store.
I love having shelves on both sides of the sink. It’s the perfect spot for knick knacks.
Barn and squirrel – Michaels
Count your blessings pumpkin – Hobby Lobby
Small pumpkins – Target
My mom saw my barn and said it is the little North Dakota side of me coming out. (We lived there for two years together) Haha! I just think the barn is adorable!
Mr. Squirrel is pretty cute too. He thinks he owns the kitchen now.. he probably does.
Alright folks, well it’s the Saturday before Halloween so tonight we celebrate!
I’ll be sharing my costume on the blog soon and in the meantime, let’s keep in touch! You can find my social media links in the top right corner and the bottom of the page.
Thanks for stopping by!
